Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February 2012 as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.

I know that many of you may be thinking that you have not been effected by these particular diseases; however; I'm sure that most of you have had a friend, co-worker or loved one who has had some kind of terrible illness. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society provides grants to other organizations for reseach and this is why I have chosen to participate.

When I started to run a year ago for a 5k for breast cancer I thought it was hard to keep going but I started to think about those who battle every day while fighting a disease. I decided the temporary discomfort I sometimes felt was insignificant compared to what others were facing while fighting for their lives.

I am running in memory of Faye Delaney who lost her battle from breast cancer in 1999 and for Dana Ednie who recently passed away after loosing his battle with brain cancer. I am also inspired by people like Carrie Melanchrino who won her battle against Lymphoma last year.
