This Spring I'm training towards the Wildflower triathalon with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

I'll be doing the "Half Ironman" course, a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and a half marathon run. Gulp. The big day is Saturday April 30th. The location: Lake San Antonio, California.

I am completing this event in honour of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. In particular I am swimming, biking and running in honour of 2 wonderful people:

• Firstly, my fond friend, Chris "Cobol Chris" Hubbard who died of lymphoma in 2004 after a long battle, aged 35. Thats him on the left, managing to look dignified as the rest of us drank ourselves under the table at the Fat Cat in Ipswich, UK.

• Secondly, I have another friend who has a possible reocurrence of lymphoma as we speak. She's doing well, and our fingers are crossed that the tests will return with good news.
