The POWER of your Donation
Jul 06, 2012 by May Ladrillono

Ever wonder where your $$ goes?? Here's a short list of the POWER of your donation!

$1000 supports one week’s salary for a medical researcher at UCSF, Stanford, or Berkeley who may discover key information to developing curative treatments for blood cancers.

$500 allows 10 patients to log on to a webcast and hear the latest information in treatment for their disease.

$200 funds one Family Support Group meeting of 5–25 participants (the Greater San Francisco Bay Area chapter hosts eight monthly support groups).

$150 allows five patients to make a First Connection with a trained peer volunteer.

$100 provides three patients access to an information teleconference.

$75 is the average cost of tissue typing to become a bone marrow donor.

$50 is the cost of a CT scan.

$40 is the cost of sending a comprehensive packet of information for children with cancer.

$35 pays for transportation expenses for a patient living in Northern California’s most rural areas to treatment at a comprehensive cancer center.

$25 covers a single prescription co-payment.

$5 is the cost of sending a newly diagnosed patient information about their disease and how to get support.

Here are my current Honored Teammates, the reason why I am choosing to run 31 miles and raise money with your help:

A Random Letter from Brian's HS classmate
Feb 25, 2012 by May Ladrillono

Hi Brian

I know this is totally random and really strange but I had to let you know that I dreamt about you last night. I'm not sure how to interpret the dream but here are the details as I remember them:

I was driving out of a hospital parking lot. You had just gotten out of your car and another man was getting out of the passenger seat. We recognized each other and you walked over to say hi. Then your passenger came over and you introduced him as your younger brother. I introduced you to my passenger (my fiance) and you walked over to talk to him. I was talking to your brother and he was telling me what a great support system you were for him and how grateful he was for having you as his brother. (In my dream he was at the hospital for treatment. That part was not mentioned in my dream but somehow I just knew). We shook hands and said bye.

That was pretty much it. I woke up still remembering the dream, which is unusual as I forget everything these days. I'm not really sure why I dreamt this but since you were in it, and while I still remember it, I wanted to share it with you. My guess is that your brother wants you to know what he told me; how proud he is to have you as his brother.

Have a great weekend!

Back on the Trails!
Jul 06, 2012 by May Ladrillono

I forgot how fun running the trails was. Saw the Spring 2011 run team today at Redwood Regional. We did the first two miles with the marathon team and went our ultra route after the two miles onto the the French trail. It was wet, soft, and muddy! It was a total blast with the rest of the team - great camaraderie and one common goal.... cure for cancer!

Steven is 32!
Jul 06, 2012 by May Ladrillono

From Brian's FB post this morning:

Today, my little brother, Steven, would be turning 32 years old. Unfortunately, leukemia took him from us at the young age of 13.

May & I are back with TNT's Ultra marathon team to raise funds for LLS research & help those fighting blood cancers. Help us by donating here: Any amount will do.
