Chad's Fundraising Marathon for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

2/15/09

As you can see, I've reached my fundraising goal! But that doesn't mean I've stopped accepting donations. I'm still gladly accepting any donation because the money goes to fighting blood cancer and supporting the families fighting the battle. We have one more long run of 20 miles to do before we taper off in preparation for Rome. Hopefully this rainy weather will subside.

I'm closing in on my fund raising goal. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Yesterday, we ran 18.7 miles and the weekend before that we ran in the Kaiser Half Marathon in San Francisco. Needless to say, I'm a bit tired. We have one more long run in a couple of weeks and then we taper off in preparation for Rome.

It's the new year and the training is in full swing. Last weekend we ran 12 miles through Millbrae. It's the longest I've ever run in my life. Pretty much every team training from here on out will be the longest distance I have run in my life. I got a new pair of shoes, a pair of New Balance. They're a lot more comfortable than my last pair of Nikes. I no longer feel any blisters on my feet ever. My fundraising is approaching my goal. I'm well over half-way there. Just another push or two and I should reach my goal.

You know, running really isn't so bad. I used to really not like running, it was what our high school coaches made us do if we did something wrong. If someone a couple years ago told me to go run 9 miles, I'd think they were crazy. Yesterday, we ran 9 miles through Blackie's Pasture in Tiburon. When we finished, I wasn't even that tired! It was also the first team run where I didn't feel sore at all and I didn't feel any blisters on my feet. And that makes me real happy.

12/14/08

We did an 8-mile run through Marin County yesterday. I'm recovering from a cold I came down with a few days ago so it seemed a lot longer. But have no fear, I am already feeling a lot better. A couple more days and I should be back to normal. I also got my medical clearance in order to enter the marathon so I have a green light to run 26.2 miles!

12/07/08

Yesterday we did a 7-mile run in the city. It was my first time running through any city. We started up by Crissy Field and ran down past Pier 39 and back. I'm doing pretty well endurance-wise. My feet just get tired! Maybe I need new shoes.

11/23/08

I'm a couple weekends into official team training now. We just did a 5 mile run yesterday up in Marin County. I felt pretty good after the run and probably could have ran a couple more miles. The runs will slowly increase in length and with the training I do on my own during the week, I think I'm on a pretty good course to run in Rome.

11/12/08

Official team training starts this weekend and I'm excited! I've never run really long distances before. The longest I have run were the 5 mile warm up runs before wrestling practice in high school, which was 7 years ago! I have been staying fairly active with shorter runs and lots of gym time so hopefully I won't have too hard a time adjusting to the longer runs.

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in the Rome Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
