Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Fall is here and my feet have healed! How are those two things related, and why am I telling you? Because this Fall, I am training for a marathon and, in the process, raising money for leukemia and lymphoma research.
You've got it! Once again, I have signed up to be a Team In Training participant. This time, I am training to run theRock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Full Marathon that will be held in Texas on November 16, 2008. That's right: I will be running 26.2 miles, which is equal to 42.2 kilometers! Wow, right?!
Since joining Team In Training, I have met many amazing people: people who’ve survived leukemia & lymphoma and are now running marathons; people who are currently battling blood-related cancers, bravely dealing with illness, chemotherapy and bone marrow transplants. I’m continually touched by the stories of people who’ve lost their fight against cancer – those whose lives were cut too short.
It is for all of these people that I go to the team trainings every day and for them that I am committed to raising at least $3,008 by November 1. I’ve learned that leukemia is the number one disease killer of children under 14 years of age, and strikes 10 times as many adults. Leukemia and lymphoma are the leading fatal cancers in men under the age of 35.
Continuing the research that results in such amazing advancements, like inventing new highly effective chemo treatments, takes money. That’s where you come in! It is really easy for you to help. All you have to do is enter the amount you would like to donate to LLS into the box on the left hand side of my page and you'll be on your way to helping me save people's lives!
Your generous donation is 100% tax-deductible and enables the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support research, patient services and educational programs. Every little bit helps bring us one step closer to a cure!
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thank you for your support!
With heartfelt thanks,
