Cancer in our Economy
Feb 24, 2012 by Laura Moir

Before you dismiss my requests for donations thinking “I can’t afford to donate any money right now with the economy the way it is,” I want you to consider a few things…
1. People don’t stop getting cancer when the economy is in a slump. Now more than ever, LLS can use your help. The money you donate not only goes to fund research, but it also financially helps families deal with the cost of hospital stays and medication, which (as many of you know) can be substantial.
2. Everyone can use another deduction on their taxes and April is coming up! 100% of whatever amount you donate to LLS is tax-deductible. Plus, 75% of the money you donate goes directly to fund research and patient services. That’s one of the highest percentages out there among charitable organizations.
3. If that doesn't inspire you, how about this: Leukemia is the No. 1 disease killer of children under 14 years of age and strikes 10 times as many adults. Once again, I am asking for your financial support in my pursuit to raise funds to find a cure for leukemia and other blood-related cancers.
No amount is too small. Every dime makes a difference.
Your continued encouragement and faith in my ability to accomplish my fitness and fundraising goals are more than I could hope for. I hope you will find it in your heart to contribute to the fight against leukemia and other blood cancers again. Your donation can make a difference in someone’s life. May you realize success in your own endeavors, and may we all go the distance. Thank you for your generous support.

At it again...

I finished the Nike 26.2 Marathon in Ocotber and it was an awesome, incredible challenge. More importantly, thanks to the generous support & good wishes of my friends and family, I raised $3,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! Together with my Team In Training teammates from San Francisco, Marin and East Bay areas, we raised over $1 million (& counting) for blood-related cancer research and patient services, bringing us closer to a cure!
The fight is not over... cancer has not quit so why should I?
I have decided to train for another marathon with TNT and will be participating in the San Diego Rock n' Roll Marathon on June 3rd. In order to run my second 26.2, I have again pledged to raise $2250 for the cause and train six days a week from now until the race.
Your generosity is 100% tax-deductible and enables LLS to fund research and patient services. Every little bit helps bring us one step closer to a cure!
I cannot do all of this without you! Thank you so much for your support and encouragement throughout my training. This time with Team In Training is an incredible, educational, and intense experience that I will remember forever– thank you for making it possible.

Teams are made up of individuals. Without them, there is no team.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I have a mission-to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. To accomplish that mission, I’m participating in a sports endurance event as a member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team In Training. Like the other members of TNT, I will be raising funds to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I’m improving the quality of my life by participating and with your support, I can help improve the quality of life for patients and their families as well.
Please make a donation in support of my efforts with Team In Training and help advance the research for cures.
