RUNNING FOR A CURE

I'm back again, for a third season training and fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. I have completed two half and two full marathons with Team in Training. We are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. This October, I will be completing the Nike Half Marathon in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

These are OUR friends and our families who can benefit from your generous tax deductible donation. It only takes a quick minute and a few dollars to help save many peoples' lives.

This past spring season, our SF/Marin Run team raised over $600,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This is enough to fund five researchers for the next three years to help find the cure for blood cancer. Consider also that many of the strides that are made toward curing blood-related cancers translate into making a difference in fighting all types of cancers. Isn't it amazing to think that you have contributed to this?

If you're not sure how much to donate, think about these ideas:

• $13.10 - A dollar a mile
• $26.20 - Two dollars a mile, and incentive towards my next full marathon
• $40.00 - you can give up 2 weeks of lattes, can't you?
• $75.00 - skip a night out for a cure!
• $100 - A nice round number
• $200 - excellent annual charitable donation
• $262 - Twenty dollars a mile
• $_______ - Be creative, make up your own.

9/27 Training has been going well this season. We've had lots of hill practice which we call "challenges"!! Ran 12 miles last week, and felt like I could keep going. Good sign. Taking it easy this week though since my calves are super tight -Ouch!
