Racing to Save Lives.
I'm running the Nike San Francisco marathon on October 19th to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
As you may or may not have guessed, I've never really been a runner. So, you may ask, why the decision to run a marathon?
First, it is a great personal challenge. The idea of actually running for 26.2 miles does make me a bit nervous. There is an unknown here, and we all fear the unknown. But, these fears are nothing to what someone with cancer has to face each day.
Everyone knows someone whose life has been affected by cancer and we all know how devastating that experience can be. Joining Team in Training is a way that I can make a small impact in the fight against cancer.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training helps us find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma, Hodgkins, and non-Hodgkins. There are many times, through accident, that the LLS has found viable treatments for colon, prostate, breast, and ovarian cancer. The LLS hopes to find a cure for this while helping to improve the quality of life for the patients and their families. The LLS has many services including co-pay assistance, advocacy, financial services, back to school, project share life, and many more.
Please help me to in making a difference by making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Thanks so much for your support!
Joe Kiernan
