Racing to Save Lives

Did you know:

An estimated 138,530 people in the United States will be diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma in 2008. New cases of leukemia, Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma account for 9.6 percent of the 1,437,180* new cancer cases diagnosed in the United States this year. A few years ago one of my cousins was one of those diagnosed, and sadly, was not cured.

This is one of the many reasons I am training to participate in the Lavaman Triathlon in Hawaii as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.

Team In Training (TNT) is the worlds largest endurance sports training program, providing coaching and support for people to cross the finish line at marathons, half marathons, triathlons and 100-mile cycling events. iin the twenty years of it's existance, over 360,000 participants have raised more than $850 million for lifesaving cancer research and to help blood cancer patients live longer, better lives.
