Racing to Save Lives

Hi Everyone! Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

As you may know, I started training for the Lavaman Olympic distance triathlon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training in October 2008.

All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals living with blood cancers, but also for a personal reason.

My friends David and Sarah Richards-Bolenbaugh have a wonderful little girl named Abigail who was diagnosed in March 2008 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (Pre-B ALL w/ MLL Rearrangement t(4:11) and CNS Involvement) at the age of 9 months.

Abby is a happy, charming little girl who likes: music, things that make noise, mommy & daddy, tubes, squishing IV bags, dancing, beads, the beach, stroller rides, swings, giggling, and just plain silliness.

Abigail is now in her second phase of high-dose chemotherapy and is now over 20 months old. If you would like to keep track of her progress, you may visit her CarePage.

For those of you who know me well, know that I believe in charities and organizations that truly support the people they intend to help. The Leukemia & and Lymphoma Society contributes a minimum 75% of all funds raised to research and support networks for people living with blood cancer. As I learn more about the organization and talk to people living with blood cancers, I see just how much good the money raised by TNT has done over the last 20 years.

Since this will not be my first triathlon, I am not only looking to meet and exceed my fundraising goal, but I also hope to place in the top 10 in my age group, and in the top 50 overall. Your support will definitely help me focus.
