Racing to Save Lives
Hello! My name is Danny and I'm preparing for the Kaua'i Marathon as a member of the San Francisco Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.
Those of you who know me know that I'm not exactly what you'd call a natural athlete. In my first week of training I've already run further than I probably had all of last year, so this is a big step for me. I'm doing the hard work by running; will you please show your support by making a donation today?
Your donation will help fund patient programs and groundbreaking research to find a cure for blood cancers. Such work has drastically increased cancer survival rates; five-year survival rates for leukemia have tripled since 1960, while survival rates for Hodgkin lymphoma have doubled. But there's still a long way to go. Today, 900,000 Americans are living with a blood cancer, and one of them dies every 10 minutes. This doesn't have to be.
Throughout my training, I'll be posting updates to my blog and twitter to let you know how I'm doing (i.e. that I'm still alive). I'll also provide links to the posts here and pics that we take along the way.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
P.S.- If your company offers matching funds for charitable donations, please ask them to match your contribution!
P.P.S.- My girlfriend Megan is participating, too. Please support her also!
