My Quest to Save Lives

Hello all=) Thanks for stopping by and donating to TNT.

As a volunteer of TNT I have been and will continue to be training to complete IRONMAN CANADA on August 29th 2010. Team in Training is racing to find a cure for Leukemia, Lymphoma and other blood cancers and I am excited to be apart of that. Any money you donate to this quest will go directly to the Leukemia Lymphona Society and their research to find a cure.

I would like to mention one of my friends, Lindsey who was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia at age 5. With new research and technology when she was a kid, she was able to have bone marrow transplant at age 5 and has been in remission for the last 20 years!! It is because of research at that time that she is alive today. She herself has allowed her case to be studied yearly, through countless, painful, and combersome tests. Through this sacrifice she is making a difference! Her commitment to finding a cure inspires me and makes me wonder... what could I do???

I have always wanted to do an Ironman, but never thought it was possible. Team In Training is providing me the opportunity to complete this lifelong goal and has also given me the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients as well. Your donations will go directly to helping find a cure!

We have already made a difference!

-The overall five-year survival rate for children under five years old with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) was 3% in 1964 -- today it's 89%!

-The five-year survival rate for leukemia has more than tripled in the past 46 years, from 14% in 1960 to 54% in the 1999-2005 timeframe.

-In children from 0 to 19 years, five-year survival for non-Hodgkin lymphoma is now 84.4%.

On August 29th at 7 am, I will be on a quest to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 mile then run 26.2 miles... ALL IN ONE DAY! I am asking for each of you to commit to helping find a cure by sponsering me in this goal.

I would like for you to "purchase" a part of my quest by donating for a certain mile of my race.

Bike mile = $25 (sold out)

Run mile = $100 (sold out)

Swim .4 mile = $150 (sold out)

Swim Full mile = $250 (sold out)

After you donate I will contact you regarding what specific mile you would like "purchase" and who (if you would like to) you are purchasing it in honor or memory of. If you don't specify I will assign you one. I will then update the following list.

If you have a loved one who has been affected by a blood cancer, please also pass this on when I email you. I will then write them on the back of my race card so that they will be with me and pushing me on if I feel like giving up on race day.
