Ironman Quest: Take 2!

After 10 years with Team in Training, I am still at it, raising funds to find a cure against the blood related cancers. I am training for Iron Man Canada on August 29, 2010 and will race a total of 140.6 miles that day. Yes, I am going long for a cure, swimming 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles and running 26.2 miles This is my second Ironman, and eleventh year with Team in Training, raising funds each year. I keep going because we still don't have a cure. I have been continually inspired by the stories of the honorees I have met along the way on this journey. Each year we are closer to finding a cure, but the truth is, the survival rate is currently at 85%, not good enough! Every 4 minutes, someone new is diagnosed. Every 10 minutes, someone loses thier battle against a blood cancer.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in memory of my younger brother, Ricky, who lost his battle against Hodgkin's Disease in 1997, and in honor of all individuals who are currently battling blood cancers. They are all the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
