In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me lay an invincible summer. -- Albert Camus
Friends, family and colleagues,
It should probably come as no great surprise that I'm training for another Ironman triathlon and fundraising again for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During the past several years, I've found that nothing motivates me more than an unfathomable challenge and clear goal. Though I've completed two Ironman triathlons in the past two years and other endurance events, these achievements would not have been possible without the support of Team in Training and the friends that I've made. It has been a life enriching experience to find a passion for a sport that improves my body and mind, has resulted in life long friendships and allows me to give back to the community through fundraising to find a cure for blood cancers.
I'm training for Ironman Canada on August 29, 2010, and have committed to raise $5,000 to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. Until recently, I didn't have a personal connection to the cause but through Team in Training I've met and even trained with people who have battled or are still battling blood cancers. They are our team honorees. Some are now my close friends and their strength and character continually inspire me. Also, one of my company's co-CEOs has been going through treatment for myeloma and I'd like to train this season in his honor.
Many of you have made donations in the past and I thank you for your generosity. It is hard to ask again, but as I train to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles, please support my fundraising effort. That's the easy part, don't you think? Your donation is 100% tax deductible and will help fund research, patient services and educational programs. Thank you!!
With love -- Kristie
