It might have been the most beautiful day of 2010 in San Francisco... Saturday started at 7:15 and took me 11.5 miles through the Presidio, down into Sea Cliff, left on 32nd and up to Clement and 44th. I stoped and ate some gummy bears, drank some water and went back... but this time, over the Golden Gate Bridge. Finished in a lot longer than planned because of the largest "challenges" (aka HILLS) I've ever experienced, but that's okay.
Pain status: not bad, iced my knees after the run and I've been a bit sore through out the day, but nothing to complain about.
I'm half way done with training. And more than half way to my goal of $3900! YAY!
...totally kicked my butt.
Now it feels real.
Saturday marked five miles; I promised myself if I could get to five, I'd be able to say "I'm training for a marathon." Success came with a blister and a reason to purchase a new pair of shoes. Done and done.
Welcome everyone! I'm guessing you read my Choose Your Own Adventure email or you came from my blog? Either way, thanks for making it this far.
I know you already know this, but I'm training for a marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training (TNT). The race is December 12, 2010 in Honolulu! (if you're going to run a marathon, might as well make it somewhere beautiful, right?) Plus, I've had a life long goal of running 26 miles in my 26th year and my time is running out!
I'll be running to help fight leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I plan to complete this event in honor of all individuals who are currently battling blood cancers and for my Aunt Molly who has been in remission for 23 years.
Please make a donation to support my participation in TNT and help advance LLS's mission. Thanks for your support!
