Here's a blog I keep updated weekly about my bike training and such:
http://thunderbikecancerslayer.blogspot.com/
It has a stupid name because that's the first thing I thought of. Go check it out if you want to keep up with what I'm up to or whatever.
That's basically the deal. This coming June, I'll be participating in the America's Most Beautiful Bike Race ride and riding 100 miles around Lake Tahoe. Hopefully I will finish the race and not fall off a cliff, but the good news is that even if I do fall off a cliff, your donated money will still be going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to support cancer research.
I'm doing this for two main reasons. One, as a personal fitness goal. 100 miles is a lot of miles, and I'm afraid of heights, and going fast, and lots of things, so there's some personal challenges to master there. Secondly, cancer makes me sad. Whenever I hear someone has cancer, I feel really helpless and wish I could do something about it, or at least about cancer in general. So this is a thing that can be done.
I've been thinking about doing this for a while, and when I recently heard that a friend's 3 year-old son had leukemia, I felt like I really should do something. It doesn't seem fair that a 3 year-old kid should have to go through chemotherapy and all that.
If you can spare any cash, feel free to chip in with the link on the right. If not, don't worry about it, any support or prayers you can give would be appreciated as well.
There's also a comment link down there if you want to say anything. Hopefully it works. The post editing software is a little buggy sometimes.
See the official post below for more info about the race and the organization.
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
