Climbing Mountains to Save Lives
Hi, I'm Jo.
Welcome to my Team In Training home page - the Jo Zone.
I'm training to ride the Tour of the California Alps / Markleeville Death Ride in mid-July as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.
Like any borderline sane person, I'm wondering what on earth I've gotten myself into here.
I, one of the slowest climbers on earth - you'll always find me off the back of the autobus - have committed myself, as it were, to ride my bike 129 miles over five mountain passes. That'll be 15,000 feet of climbing. At altitude. Yikes!!
But the challenges I'll be facing are nothing compared to the challenges faced by those dealing with cancer.
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate mountain pass - a cure!
I know it's pretty obnoxious of me to be asking for donations during these tough economic times. If you can, please consider making a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and to help advance LLS's mission.
Even if you can't donate money, your moral support would be ever so appreciated! :)
I'm be writing about my adventures with the team in my blog. You'll find my blog at
Check in every now & then to see how I'm doing, and leave me a note if'n you're so inclined.
Thanks so much for your support!
