Welcome to my Team In Training home page for my THIRD marathon, the Seattle Rock & Roll, June 27, 2009.

Is it not it annoying when a friend is ALWAYS asking for donations for a charity?

I know you all have budgets to watch and your own charities to support. Sometimes it gets on your nerves when someone keeps begging.

But I am asking again. I would love your support to raise money for my third marathon with Team in Training, an athletic group for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Why I keep asking for your support:

• We would all love it if we donate once and solve a problem. That is not how cancer research works. LLS needs ongoing donations to help with its mission: saving lives.
• Mom has cancer. She might not get better, so support of cancer causes has become personal. I went with her one day to her radiation treatment, and I saw for myself how much support she received and how helpful it was. I have also met so many people whose lives have been touched by cancer. LLS supports cancer patients and their families, and they need support to keep it up.
• Training for a marathon is tough. Running the dang thing is even tougher. When I run, I think of the people who support my efforts. Sometimes you are the only thing that keeps me going. Other times I keep running because I need to go to the bathroom. Hey... as long as I keep running, right?
• Last time I raised money, I had to run a huge garage sale to make the whole amount. It was a pain in the rear. I really do not want to have to drag out a 50-cent table again.

I am not kidding when I say ANYTHING will help. Five bucks is great. Look at it this way: If we met again for coffee, would you buy me a latte? Tell you what... I will buy my own. Just donate the money instead.

Team In Training raises funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of my mother and everyone who is battling cancer. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
