Racing to Save Lives

Welcome Family and Friends

to my Team In Training home page!

Last year I achieved one of my dreams - that of writing a book! In true "Heroes in Heels" fashion, I wanted to do something big this year to give back and really make a difference. So... I am putting on my "RUNNING HEELS" and will be running the San Diego "Rock N Roll" marathon in June with Team in Training to help find a cure for leukemia and lymphoma! I'm both nervous and excited for the challenge, but I know if I focus on the "why", the "how" will follow.

I would like to introduce you to my WHY...

ANTHONY COTTRELL

Anthony Cottrell was a vibrant outgoing teenage boy. He enjoyed hanging out with his younger brother and his friends, riding his dirt bike, listening to music and getting into mischief. When Anthony was 15 he felt some pain in his jaw and knee. On Sept. 28, 2008, he was told he had a rare but very aggressive lymphoma called Burkitt's. Over the next nine months, he endured grueling tests, procedures and treatments. His mom, Tiffany, slept in a small chair for weeks at a time next to his bed. In April 2009, doctors hinted they were losing the battle. They continued fighting aggressively, but on June 25, 2009, 5 days after his 16th birthday, Anthony lost his battle.

I am completing this event with Team in Training in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, but specifically in honor of Anthony Cottrell. He is the real hero on my team, and I need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Please join me in supporting this great cause, and if possible, make a

donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.

I hope you will visit my web site often.

Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your

support!

With sore legs, hips, and feet..... and much love and appreciation ,

Carrie - a future marathon runner!!!!!!

"Tears streamed down my face as I crossed the finish line. I was a new person, a runner." - Thomas King
