Racing to Save Lives.
One Step at a Time.
Welcome to Jen's Team In Training home page!
As the parents of four children under the age of five, including our four-year-old triplets, my husband Charlie and I have our hands extremely full. We often wonder how we could have more time in the day to do things that are important to us ... like eat. Or shower.
Or sleep.
But when our friend Deana Reynolds, a mother to two young sons, was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma and given a grim prognosis, we both felt like we needed to do something to show our support to her, and to the numerous family and friends that have been affected by cancer. Several of our family and friends are waging their cancer battles, still.
But too many others have been lost.
What could we do to help?
What could we do to make a difference?
What could we do other than bake another lasagna and say another prayer for the family?
Ultimately, we decided to carve time out of our busy lives to train for and run the San Diego Rock-N-Roll Marathon on May 31, 2009. This is no small feat considering we are not runners. And we have four small children that we homeschool. And we work. And sometimes we like to eat. And shower.
And sleep.
But by participating in this event, we will be raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. So I am asking YOU to help by making a tax-deductible donation to our fundraising campaign.
Even though Charlie and I have both reached our fundraising minimum goals - we are inspired to raise as much money as we can for this important cause.
Each donation helps accelerate finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. More than 823,000 Americans are battling these blood cancers. We hope that our participation in Team In Training will help bring them hope and support. And it will get us one step to the ultimate finish line ... a cure.
Thank you for your contribution, generosity and well wishes. If you can say a prayer for our friend, Deana, we thank you for that, too.
