Here is information pertaining to the Nintendo Wii Raffle held on Sunday April 12th, 2009...

After trying to contact the first person who was drawn today at 2:00pm it was confirmed that the contact information was incorrect on the 1st ticket. Therefore, the runner up whos ticket was also pulled at 2:00pm will receive the WiiFit & WiiSport package. That winner is James Carver and Brian Turney of San Diego, CA.

Congratulations to James & Brian and thanks for your support of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Thanks to all who participated in the Wii Raffle and to all who supported not only me but Donny Munshower and all our San Diego Team In Training Teammates AKA, TNT "FOLKS".

Artist Statement:

When contemplating a subject, before drawing or painting, I deconstruct the subject into many different forms and perspectives. My objective, regardless of the medium or subject, is to push the level of abstraction in thought as well as through the process of Physically creating the work. Each medium requires a different physical application and, therefore, contributes differently to the resulting artwork.

Many new thoughts evolve as the initial image is being drawn or painted, and the end result is often much different than what I intended in the beginning. This process allows spontaneity in the process which contributes to the energy of each piece.

Platelets, White Blood Cells, and Bones was created specifically for my friend Jim Famolare who is raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through the Team In Training Program (www.tinyurl.com/find-a-cure) Each element contributes to the calm portrait of a patient having to cope with the seriousness of their illness while managing to focus on wellness amongst the incomparable, and most often, trivial issues of day to day life.

John D Beneventi is a San Diego artist, born in Chicago, Illinois. His most recent success has been "runner up - curator's choice" in the Viridian international art competition, juried by Elizabeth Sussman, Curator of the Whitney Museum in New York City. CONNECT 4 FOR A CURE TOURNAMENT

Bracketed tournament will be held at Dave and Buster's in Mission Valley on Wednesday February 18th. Doors open at 6:00pm, tournament starts at 6:30pm.

The tournament is a bracket structure where winners of the initial round advance to play other players in subsequent rounds.

BOWLING FOR A CURE

March 1st at the Kearny Mesa Bowl, 12 noon to 2pm. Get a group of friends together and have some fun while raising money for blood cancer research. Email bowlingforacure@gmail.com for information or to register for the event.
