Racing to Save Lives

I'm training to participate in the Adida's Dubliln Marathon in Dublin Ireland on October 26 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Below you will find the top 26.2 reasons you should donate to my 26.2 mile race!

1. For every mile I run, there are thousands people who can't get out of bed due to the side affects of cancer treatment.

2. Every penny goes to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

3. You DON'T have to run 26.2 miles in October. How much will you pay to have me do it instead?

4. I will have a pint of beer in your honor.

5. All this training is going to make my butt really nice, and I will let you touch it.

6. I wear really cool 80's sweat bands when I run.

7. If you donate more than $50 I will put your name on my jersey.

8. If you donate more than $100 I will send you a gift from Ireland.

9. If you donate more than $200 I will smuggle something back in my suitcase, like a goat or sack of potatoes. (Goat might be tough, but I'll try.)

10. Having a positive bank account balance is sooooo overrated.

11. You will feel better about yourself. Not that you don't already feel good about yourself, but....

12. I guarantee you know SOMEONE (even if indirectly) who will benefit from the LLS foundation.

13. The people involved with the organization and the honored teammates are such wonderful, amazing, inspiring people who deserve support.

14. It's getting hot out and as I'm sweating bullets I try to distract myself with a daydream about all the people who have supported my cause.

15. I will dedicate my next karaoke song to you.

16. Then I will find a karaoke bar in Ireland and dedicate one there as well.

17. I'll give you a donation when you run a marathon.

18. I'll give you a backrub when you run a marathon (hint, hint).

19. My alarm clock goes off at 5:30 on Saturday mornings. I need motivation to get out of bed, folks!!

20. Seriously, seriously... The LLS Foundation makes me cry every day with the unbelievable stories we hear, the people they touch, and the lives they save.
