Two years ago, I crossed the finish line of the Marine Corps Marathon, my first. I felt like I accomplished something great, but I swore that I would never do it again. So, naturally, I'm doing it again!

I am training for the Carlsbad Marathon on January 22, 2012, with Team in Training. Our team raises funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Your donations go toward providing services to patients and families. Your donations also go to research for new treatments and to the search for a cure. We train for marathons because those suffering from leukemia or lymphoma cannot and we run in honor and in memory of them. (And because we're a little crazy.)

In all seriousness, I am running in memory of my grandfather, one of the greastest men I ever knew, who lost his battle to leukemia in 2003. I always knew he died from cancer, but I just recently found out that it was leukemia specifically. This made me even more proud of my prior involvement with Team in Training.
