As event day rapidly approaches and the training gets harder and longer, it’s time to dig deep and persevere through the challenges. One thing I know for sure is that my challenges are nothing comparing to those who face the dreaded disease of cancer, to those who lost their lives because of it and for all the many family members who struggle with the lost of their love ones.

Yesterday, June 6th my niece, Kerri lost her boyfriend, Isaac to Cancer. My heart goes out to her, his family and their friends. Praying that someday there will be a cure. Until then, I continue to train with Team In Training and fundraise for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I will be hosting a night of magic at my home along with a delicious pasta dinner served buffet style. It will include a variety of pastas, Caesar salad, garlic bread/breadsticks, non-alcoholic drinks, dessert & ticket for either a beer or glass of wine.

This will be a fundraiser for the benefit of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Costs is only $10 per adult, $5 for children under 13 & Free for children 5 and under. Payable: cash, check (LLS), donate on-line at this site.

Curtis Clark, a professional magician will be performing slight of hand magic tricks up close and personal from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Join me in my persistent pursuit to help the world be cancer free. Sure that’s a pretty big task and it cannot be done alone. This is why I have joined Team In Training once again and I am asking for your continued support.

My guardian angel Skip is going to be with me cheering me on and keeping me strong over the next several months as I take on training for my 1st half ironman in his honor and memory. “Yes, this one is for your sweetie”.

I choose this event for a few reasons. It was one of the three half ironman events that Skip did. It was also his best out of the three and most importantly it takes place on the weekend on his two anniversary year of his passing. July 15, 2012. Sure do you miss him!

In case you don’t know what a half ironman is. I’ll be swimming 1.5 miles, riding my bike 56 miles then running 13.1 miles for a total of 70.3 miles. This is double the Olympic distances I have been doing. Yes that’s a huge undertaking however it’s not as huge as going through chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant, and other cancer treatments that the thousands of people go through every year.
