This is my friend Adam:
Adam "The Kid" Milne
In the spring of 2000, Adam was always feeling run down. He went to see a doctor and was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), a cancer that starts inside bone marrow, growing from cells that would normally turn into white blood cells. With treatment, Adam went into remission. He married his fiancée, Jen, on February 17th, 2001. Early in March of 2001, Adam had a relapse. He lost his battle with Leukemia on March 23rd, 2001.
There are currently over 250,000 people in the US living with Leukemia. In the next year, approximately 20,000 of them will die. However, research developments in the treatment of blood cancers have had major contributions to the survival rate. The five-year survival rate is now above 55% - four times higher than it was in 1949 when the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) was established. Organizations like LLS contribute donated funds to support research efforts to find cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma as well as improve the quality of life of patients and their families.
It’s been 10 years since my friend Adam passed away, and to honor his memory, I've decided to raise $10,000 for the LLS through their Team In Training (TNT) program. Officially, the Vineman Half Ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) is the event I’ve chosen as my fundraising platform, but I'm planning on doing 10 events in total. Not all 10 have been selected yet, but here is the current lineup (subject to change):

2. UCSB Triathlon - Cancelled 3/20 due to heavy rain: $2,787.34 raised at the time
2. Boston Marathon - Completed 4/18: $4,467.34 raised at the time
3. Big Sur Marathon - Completed 5/1: $4,547.41 raised at the time
4. Ventura Triathlon - Completed 6/26: $5,194.49 raised at the time
5. Vineman Half Ironman - Completed 7/17: $5,269.40 raised at the time
6. Goleta Beach Duathlon - Completed 7/31: $5309.40 raised at the time
7. Carpinteria Triathlon - 9/25
8. City to the Sea 1/2 Marathon - 10/9
9. Remission Rocks Halloween Fun Run - 10/30
10. Christopher Daily Turkey Trot - 11/24
