Well, the season has surely flown by. I guess it's true what they say, "time flies when you're having fun!" We are just a couple of week away from our big event and the anticipation keeps on building. Although we have done our share of fundraising and training, we are still only half way to our intended $100,000 goal. We have set up some fundraisers in efforts to meet and surpass this!
Please join us on any of the following dates:
1) GARAGE SALE! -- May 9 at 7am (113 W. Bus 83 in McAllen) A man's trash is someone else's treasure! Come rummage through our stuff, while helping us to raise money.
2) Applebee's Fundraiser - May 12 from 11am to close -- Stop by for lunch or dinner and ask your waiter for a flier for the fundraiser. 10% of proceeds will go toward Team Sarah!
3) TCBY FRO-YO Night - May 14 from 6pm to close -- Take a break from the heat and have yourself a healthy treat! 15% of proceeds will go toward Team Sarah.
We thank you for always supporting this cause.
Well, we are officially one month away from our event! It's safe to say that our training has only intensified. We are getting to the point where it is starting to become a mental game as well. We need to be able to physically complete our weekly training, but half the time we need to remind ourselves why we are doing in the first place. We are to the point where are bodies don't like us too much the morning after our practices, but we have to keep pushing!
This past weekend we had our first open water swim on the island and it was great fun. Come to think of it, we did a mini triathlon this weekend. We swam in the salty water, rode against some strong wrinds, and ran as best as we could on wobbly legs. We pushed hard for those that can't!!

Well there has definitely been a lot of "firsts" this season and last weekend was no exception. The first triathlon of the season came and went so quickly! Our team participated in the Just "Tri" it, mini triathlon in Brownsville on Saturday and it was a blast! We swam for 400 meters, rode for 13 miles and ran 3 miles. For some of us, it was a good refresher and for others it was our very first tri... ever! The weather has been a litte nutty this year, but it held up for us on Saturday, yay! We all finished strong; while some of us hit our personal records, some of us realized that training a little harder is a "must", and some of us were just excited to see the finish line! Regardless of what we felt throughout the race, we all finished it and we finished it together.
Riding and running are always fun, but sometimes when they are combined they make for a brutal work out! We were blessed with another beautiful Saturday morning this past weekend at Bentsen Park. We rode 25 miles and ran for exactly 20 minutes. After a pretty exhausting working, we mustered up some energry and had ourselves a fun impromptu dance party with Sarah!

Well it's no news that weather in south Texas is a little crazy -- 90 degrees and humid one day, torrential rain and freezing temperature the next! So much so, that we have had to cancel the last 2 or 3 Saturday morning bike rides because of the rain! That all finally changed this last Saturday when we were able to ride at the Mission bike trails and through Bentsen Park. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful morning! The crisp and sunny day was a great motivator to be back on our bikes and doing what we love best. It was a nice to come together with the TEAM and remind each other why we are here. There is something so special about working out with other people and being encouraged every step of the way. Some of us are great runners, others natural cyclists, while others feel most comfortable in the water. Despite our strengths and weakness, as a TEAM we complement each other and cheer each other on to succeed.
On a side note, come join us this March 28, 2015, 7:30pm at Cimarron Country Club for a 5k fun run GLOW FOR A CURE
You can call the LLS office for more information (956)664-1629, they will even have registration forms available for you! All proceeds will go toward reaching Team Sarah's goal of $100,000! Don't miss out!
