I'd like you to meet my HERO Maty Holland. She is an 8th grader at Boerne Middle School and is bravely battling Leukemia. I will be racing in the Capital of Texas Triathlon next week in her honor. I am humbly dedicating this race to Maty.
Please join me in the fight against this terrible disease by making a donation of any amount.
Maty, you are more courageous than I could ever be. Just know that you are not alone. Stay Strong!!

Wow, what a great weekend of training. The weather was amazing and the company was excellent. Well, I managed to ride the furthest I've ever ridden a bicycle in my life. Yep, 37 freakin' miles. I can hardly believe it myself. It has been years since I have even been on a bike, much less ridden any long distances. I'm still getting used to being in the "saddle" and working on proper form & technique, but it's coming along. On Sunday morning I enjoyed our early swim training. I am learning so much and our coaches are just wonderful. Funny, having been a lifeguard in High School, you would think I would have better skillz :) We followed the swim with an easy six mile run. I think I'm getting the hang of this!!

Getting Started

Someone once said that a journey begins with the first step. Mine began this weekend. We took advantage of the warm 70+ degree weather to get in a 6 mile run through Brackenridge Park, to the Pearl Brewery and down along the Riverwalk. Felt pretty good considering we haven't really ran with any effort since the marathon in November. The good news is that 6 miles is about half of the run portion of the tri. Yeaaa!!! Sunday was 12 hilly miles on the bike through Alamo Heights. That was hard, but fun.
With the weather taking a dive this week, training has been limited to indoors. Yesterday was a long swim in a nice warm pool. As the temps continue to plumet, I'll be busy on the indoor trainer. Sure am glad we gave that to Jesse for Christmas. Not looking forward to Saturday morning's frosty ride. Guess I better BUNDLE up :)

Okay, I'm undertaking a new challenge this season with Team in Training. I have begun training for the Capital of Texas Triathlon to be held in Austin, May 30th. I am definately looking forward to meeting and getting to know my fellow Tri Teammates and overcoming the challenges that I know are heading my way. It has always been my belief that we are required to use our gifts and talents for a greater good. So, I will continue to do my part, in the way I know best, to help find a cure for Cancer.
My fundraising goal for this season is $3,000. With the tremendous support I have received in the past, I feel confident that together we can accomplish great things!!
Having never competed in an event of this magnitude, I"m a little nervous. Who am I kidding? I'm a LOT nervous!! Wish me luck!!!
