I just wanted to add a little something. Of course my main inspiration to sign up training for a marathon was and is Kilian. I watched him go through so many battles and also changes that I simply felt that I needed to change something. And that sitting on my butt feeling sorry for myself just isn't the way to go, that I need to get out and DO something.
BUT he is not the only one that I am doing this for. I never had much to do with cancer, I guess my family has been very lucky like that.
The first time that cancer hit close to home EVER was when my little cousin Nora was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. Thankfully, she has been kicking cancer's butt and is also actively fighting for a cure doing "Relay for Life" - you rock girl!
Since Kilian's diagnosis,I've met so many brave, amazing children along the way during our hospital stays. It is simply astounding how they are taking everything in a stride, never backing down and still having a smile on their faces despite everything. They are little heroes, and I am running for all of Kilian's little buddies that are too many to list here! I am still thinking about each and every one of you very often, and I am hoping that you are all doing well!
There are so many others that are fighting cancer, not only blood cancers, that are part of or have touched my life by now. And hopefully I will be able to make a little difference. Thank you all for supporting me so far and helping me to do this. For the CURE!
Wow, what a week! While a little while ago I was more or less confined to the house with a sick child, I am now going to the gym twice a week, going to practice about at least two to three times a week and I will probably add swimming to my long list soon too! While not talking to somebody other than my husband or my mum for days, if not a week at times, I am now meeting so many new, great people. While I haven't worked out at all for about the last three years and have been sitting in a hospital room for the majority of the last year, I will soon be running a marathon.
I have to admit that all these changes are scary for me at times, even overwhelming. BUT I am enjoying myself more than I have in a very long time. NOTHING can be worse than having to worry about your child. NOTHING. So bring it on! And running 26.2 miles are NOTHING compared to what Kilian has been through. And still, he is the happiest kid and makes me smile everyday.
So PLEASE, help us to FIND A CURE. I NEVER want to go through the experiences of the past year again. And I hope that someday nobody will ever have to again.

25 June: 4 miles!!!
Yeah, I was so nervous before the practice I didn't even THINK about taking the time ;) We tried intervals for the first time (which meant 4 minutes of running and 1 minute of walking for me) - doing intervals might really save me in the long run!
