The Finish Line is in Sight...
My yard sale/bake sale fundraiser went really well! I made my goal of $1200.. actially I surpassed it by $51! So now I've raised the amount I needed to stay in the race. :-)
Now I've got to concentrate on being ready to run 26.2 miles in less than two weeks! I think I can.. I think I can... :-D
Only a Month to Go!!!
It's now May 2, and yesterday I finished the longest distance I've ever run! I did 16.33 miles!!!
I have $1300 left to raise to reach my goal, and I'm planning a big yard sale and bake sale event on May 15th. I'm advertising in the Greenville News and on Craigslist. I'm also putting up flyers. If you'd like to donate something for me to sell, or if you need directions, so you can come shop, please email me at brigett@clemson.edu. :-)
I'm excited about the marathon on June 6th, and I'm finally feeling like I can go the distance! Thanks to everyone who's donated so far, and all of you who have been so supportive along the way. Keep checking back for updates!!
Still Going..
It's March 24, and I just finished a 3.2 mile run. This weekend we are doing 10 miles for the team run! My fundraising has been going well, and I'm getting excited about the marathon! The training is getting harder, but it's worth it. I'm amazed by the generosity of my family and friends so far.. THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far!!! I'm planning to send out some special thank you notes to everyone after the race in June.
Thanks for visiting my page, and please come back again to check on me! :-)
Week 3..
Well, I'm three weeks into my marathon training, and I have to say that aside from being a little sore and very sleepy, I'm enjoying it! The TNT group is a great motivator for me, and the meetings and events are always fun. There are some really great people and some amazing survivors on this team.
I've written my fundraising letters, and I'm getting ready to mail them out early next week to just about everyone I know! Luckily I still have the list of addresses I used for my wedding invitations! :-) Stay tuned for more updates later!
Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I'm Brigette Pfister. I'm 32 years old and I work as a research administrator at Clemson University. I'm also a full time graduate student in Clemson's MHRD program. I started running in January of 2009, but on my own, I had a hard time taking it to the next level.
SO...
I'm training to participate in the 2010 San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon (yes, that IS 26.2 miles!!) as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkins lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
I am completing this event in honor of Brandon Tollack, my neighbor who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at 16 years old ! Brandon is winning his battle - he's in remission now.
I am also running in memory of Christina Marie Krassa, who lost her battle with cancer in 1995. I never met her, but her daughter is one of my dearest friends.
For every story like Brandon's, there are several like Christina's. These people are the heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often.
Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your
support!
