I am still in it! Ran my first 10K April 4th, Cooper River Bridge Run! I would have never believed it if someone told me I would be doing this last year. Had a great 4 mile team run last night in downtown Charleston, along the Battery and MUSC and will be doing a 8 mile team run on Saturday morning. It is hard but it's getting easier. While I run I often think of all the people we are helping and that keeps us all running for a cure. I am running for Craig Fort, son of my co-worker Suzanne and stay inspired by the Fort family. Craig was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 1. He was treated at MUSC Childrens Hospital and received chemotherapy for 2 years. Craig, now 7, is in remission and is thankfully doing very well. Thank you for your support of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and its effort to help cure all blood related cancers. Your donations fund research, patient services, educational programs and advocacy efforts. Cure rates for childhood leukemia have increased to an astonishing 88%. GO Team in Training!!!! Racing to Save Lives Welcome to my Team In Training home page. Connie Clark "From Couch Potato" To Marathon Runner I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure! When I first told my daughter I was going to do this, she said "but you don't run". Well I do NOW! I started running this past Wednesday for 2 miles, walked 6 miles yesterday and just finished 4 miles with the TNT team this morning. It WAS difficult, but very rewarding to know I was doing this for the real heroes we believe in. I am motivatied! I don't give up and I am confident the team and support from them is what will help me succeed. After today's run I received a supportive email from my mentor and a phone call from my team member that recruited me. What more can I ask for? Stay tuned and check for updates as I train for the marathon in San Diego on May 31, 2009. Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support! |
