It is hard to believe that the half marathon is only 14 1/2 days away! Training and fundraising really has made time fly by this summer. I am getting so excited and nervous about the race. I am very competitive with myself and have a personal goal I would like to reach for the race. Will I make it? We'll see. I think I have been pretty easy on my goal setting in the past and then I heard that you shouldn't set a goal that you KNOW you will reach but one that you know will be hard to reach. That is what I am trying to do for this half. I will have to really book it to reach my goal. I also checked the course description and it is so hilly. I mean mountainous! I almost wish I didn't see it. Anyway, it is supposed to have amazing scenery of the highlights of San Francisco. Not that I will be taking the time to really take it in. I'll have time for that after the race. Thanks again to all who have given by way of money support and by way of encouragment. When I signed up, I didn't really know everything that was ahead of me in my training, fundraising, opportunities to meet people, fun events, etc. It has been worth it. Cheer me on and say a prayer for me(and my sweet husband who will be at home to take care of the girls) on October 16th at 7am!

I have been trying harder on the fundraising the last few weeks and have gotten some sponsers for a training shirt I will have made. I am very excited about that. I will be posting an individual recognition of who my sponsers are and why I chose to ask them. Be sure to check back and see who they are.

Charity and I had another CFA spirit night that was low as far as turn out but still managed to be fun since we had a treadmill in the restaraunt and had someone running on it the whole 2 hours! We are thankful for the friends that made it out to cheer us on!

Charity and I also sold some of leftovers from our teen camp concessions at Canopy Car Wash on Wade Hampton last Friday. That went so well. We made about $85.00 a piece in a little over 2 hours. It was so kind of Canopy to let us come and raise more money.

My funds are rising slowly but I have been encouraged by the response I have had. Keep cheering me on in this effort. It has been tough but compared to cancer it is NOTHING! I hope to not let those suffering with cancer down in my efforts to raise money to help families affected in this way.

Well I finally figured out how to use my Funraising blog! It's about time.

Now about my training:

I am now at 10 miles! We had a short cold spell here in Greenville on Friday and Saturday morning. My long run was Saturday and so I was privelaged to run in the mist and cold(for summer) weather. It was a dream to run in after all the hot weather we have had. 10 miles actually felt EASY! yes I said EASY! So thankful for a wonderful long run. It was also my first training run with the actual Team in Training group. That was great as well and I can see I have missing out in previous weeks when I was unable to run with them.

My training schedule for the week consists of 3 runs: tempo run, speed interval running, and long run. I incorporate other workouts during the week as well. I have done some Insanity, Turbo Jam, Nike training workouts and Jillian Michaels workouts, etc. It make for a very full week of fitness!

About the fundraising:

I was greatly encouraged by John and Angie Bakos who made the decision to donate money in a special way. John shuttles for a Hotel in the area and donated a week's worth of tips to my friend Charity who is also doing TNT and myself! What a blessing that was! He made close to $200.00 and Angie(his wife) added to make it an even $200.00. It meant so much to us that they were willing to do this. I will try to post a picture later. NOTE: The $100 donation to the right is actually John and Angie Bakos' amount. I entered it incorrectly:-(

Charity and I were able to have a Chick-Fil-A (CFA) Spirit Night this week! Thank you to the ones who came out to support us in this way. The turn out was not as big as we wished but still another way friends have encouraged us in our efforts to raise money. I hope to post pics of the night later.

I also finally gave my first stack of letters to be mailed this week! I have more to stuff and mail out soon.

I have also made some more attempts at getting ads sold on a training T-shirt I will be wearing.

Charity and I will be having another CFA spirit night coming up soon! This time we hope to have a HUGE turn out for the night! Be looking for invitation to that.

Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
