I'm running a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!

September 21st Update: Thanks to a few recent donations (thanks Dad!) I am now only $130 away from making my goal. As a team, we are up to 20 miles in our training with another 20+ miler set for this weekend. THANK YOU to all of my donors, you guys are great!

August 18th Update: Well I am only $400 away from my goal! I have one check for $50 that hasn't cleared here yet. The team had a TOUGH 16 mile run this past Sunday and it wore me out! But it was great to be back running with everyone again after I had been gone running in Colorado last weekend for the Wild West Relay!

PLEASE HELP OUT IF YOU CAN! I AM SO CLOSE TO MY GOAL! Thanks to everyone who has supported me thus far!

August 3rd Update: Thank you to all of my recent donors!!! My current running total is $2,862! I am only $638 away from reaching my goal of $3,500. That is just amazing! Had a great 12 mile run yesterday with the team. I will be heading to Colorado this Thursday for a 200 mile relay race, so over 24 hours I will be running 3 seperate legs for over 16 miles total. Wish me luck!

July 29th Update: I raised $225 at my second dessert fundraiser this past weekend. A big thank you goes out to my mom for helping me organize it! My current running total is $2,612. I only have $888 left to reach my goal!

In other news, a family member of mine passed away on Sunday before I could thank her for her generous donation to my campaign. Although I didn't know her well, I knew she was a sweet woman who held a special place in my Nana's heart. Thank you Edith Basham for your willingness to give to my campaign, even though you didn't know me well. I will be running for her on October 25th.

July 24th Update: Ok folks, my running total is $1,867 (I have some checks that are yet to be posted here)...so who wants to make my Friday and help me reach $2,000 today? I only need $133....WOW!!! I just put that out on Twitter and I just received $208 in donations!!! My total is now $2,075! Thank you all for your generous donations! Also just got word a $262 company matched donation just came through!! I am only $1,163 away from my goal now! I am amazed.

July 23rd Update: I'm almost half way there guys!!! My deadline is fast approaching to raise $3,500, so this weekend my momma dearest is helping me with another fundraising event...ANOTHER all-you-can-eat dessert night in the Charlotte, NC-area (Ft. Mill, SC actually) at her house!

We have gathered some fantastic door prizes from local businesses, some yummy donated sweet treats and are still working to make this event FUN! So come on out, grab a fork & help support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! (Saturday July 25th, 7 to 9 PM. Email me for address! Kbostic85@gmail.com.)

June 29th Update: My dessert party went well! Between the donations I received at the event, and checks slid under my door from neighors who couldn't attend, I raised over $500! My total now rings in at $1402! (I have a lot of checks that haven't been processed yet so they won't show up on here for a few weeks.) PLUS I sent out 50 fundraising letters to family and friends today...so hopefully the checks will start rolling in! Thank you for your support!

June 23rd Update: I am so pleased that Cupcake on King Street is donating cupcakes for my dessert charity night! I have also enlisted the help of my co-workers and friends to provide some yummy treats and coffees for Thursday night. Email me at kbostic85@gmail.com for more info on the event!

June 16th Update: Next Thursday, June 25th, I am hosting an all-you-can-eat dessert & coffee night at our place as a fundraiser! I will be sure to update how much money is raised, but I am optimistic that I will do well.

The Power of Your Contribution:

• $750 Provides a leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma patient with financial aid to support medical treatment and to travel to medical appointments for one year.
• $500 Allows (10) patients to logon to a webcast and hear the latest information in treatment for their disease.
• $250 Provides a Family Support Group for one year.
• $150 Will train (6) survivors to make First Connections with a newly diagnosed patient.
• $100 Helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures.
• $75 Average cost of tissue typing to become a bone marrow donor.
• $50 The cost of a co-payment for a CT scan.
• $40 Will educate (4) school employees on how to ease the transition back to school for a child with cancer.
• $35 Will purchase (12) Charlie Brown DVDs to explain cancer to pediatric patients.
• $25 Covers a single prescription co-payment.
• $5 The cost of sending a newly diagnosed patient a packet which includes information about their specific disease and support.

About Team in Training:

Team in Training is a group of dedicated volunteer runners who train together for a marathon (26.2 miles) or an Olympic Distance triathlon.

But our bigger mission over the next five months is to raise funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.

Our Charleston team is running in honor of one special little boy- Eli Crowley who is 4 years old. He was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on January 3, 2007.
