Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Believe it or not, I, Debbie Waters, have decided to train for a marathon this year! There are two reasons for this decision, the first being that I lost my aunt to leukemia some 17 years ago. The second is that I have lost far too many friends and family in the last few months and I decided it was time for me to get in the best shape possible.
I'm training to participate in the inaugural Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon with Team in Training. Team in Training is a fundraising branch of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of Patricia who lost her fight with leukemia and also Dianne Fisher who is currently battling multiple myeloma, as well as all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit both this website and my blog often. I will try to give you a running update on just how the training and fundraising are going! Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress.
As a current update, I finished the Santa Cruz 1/2 Marathon on April 19 in 3 hrs and 27 minutes, about 12 minutes faster than I expected. That is an average of 15 minutes and 47 seconds per mile! I was thrilled, needless to say. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for your support!
