Hello Friends and Family,

I have always been a firm believer in prevention rather than struggling to rectify a catastrophe.

I am not a victim or survivor of a blood cancer, nor do I know anyone directly who has been. However, I have personally seen how traumatizing and scary cancer is for families. I have pledged to help in any way I can to alleviate suffering, as well as to bring hope to families and friends of loved ones who have been affected by any type of cancer. Cancer does not discriminate with its victims and neither will I.

This invitation as been sent to you because I believe, with your help, I can assist my "Partners for a Cure" team to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with my contribution of $2,800.00.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society has a mission to help find cures and more effective treatments for blood cancers. The funds I raise will go to help find cures and better treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, as well as helping affected families with financial assistance.

To accomplish that mission, I'm participating in the San Diego Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon on June 2, 2013 as a member of "Partners for a Cure" through the help of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program. I ask all my friends and family to help me raise my part of the contribution.

In addition to my efforts to raise funds for this necessary cause, I am also pledging to improve my own quality of life by training extensively, mentally and physically, for something I have never thought I could ever accomplish: running a half marathon (13.1miles)!

This is a very personal and important goal and I believe I am finally in the right state of mind to have success in completing this "impossible goal." By working with my "Partners for a Cure" team, I will have immeasurable amounts of support from co-workers, who are also participating with me, as well as the coaches and leaders which Team in Training is providing for us to ensure we stay mentally and physically healthy throughout the entire training process. I have never felt more confident or supported when looking up at "my Everest."

With any donation of $50 or more, I will include you in a private monthly email update of my personal achievements and hurdles, pictures of my physical changes and tips I come across which have helped me on my journey.
