Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page......
Only 30 days to go... We ran 18 miles on Saturday 4/25, the course we ran was named Cemetary Hill. The name alone should tell you a lot about the course. Not only was there a cemetary but the hill was so steep you couldn't see the top. 3 times up and down that hill was the task and that doesn't include the rolling hills in between plus an additional loop around the park. Wow, were my muscles working. I ran the last 5 miles with blisters on my feet and muscles that were tight and begging me to stop. At that point I had already completed 13 of the 18 miles so there was no quitting. Once I made it to the 18 mile mark I could not wait to get into the river and soak my legs in the ice cold water. Believe it or not this is a tremendous relief and really helps with the aches and pains that will follow after a long run. We will run 12 miles on Saturday 5/1 in preparation for our final long run in the training program next week...20 miles. I cannot believe how fast the training has gone by. I guess it's true what they say time flies when your having fun!
RACE DAY...is almost here, the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll Marathon is on May 31, 2009. That's right in 30 days I will be getting ready to run the fartheset I have ever gone before 26.2 miles! Where did the time go? It is hard to believe we are almost at the end. During this training program, we have run a little farther each week. We have already completed almost 400 miles and within the 3 weeks I will have logged nearly 500 miles.
The Team In Training (TNT) Program, is amazing. I have made wonderful friends and teammates. I am happy to say I know we will continue to run together even after our marathon and training is complete. TNT is the world's first, best and largest charity sports training program. Over the past 20 years, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training (TNT) has grown to become an unparalleled sports training program with more than 380,000 participants, from first timers to seasoned athletes.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.
This is why I am committed to raise at least $3,100 before May 8, 2009. I am almost to my goal. I'm asking for your support. Any donation you can make to help (every little bit helps) me meet my goal would be greatly appreciated!
As you can imagine, I've spent many evenings nursing my tired legs and sore feet; but I can't think of a better way to do something to help in the fight against blood cancers.
Thank you for supporting me in this big undertaking. When I hit the road on May 31st to complete the Marathon, I'll know that you helped me and many others along the way.
Sincerely,
Briana Ladiao
