Racing to Save Lives
11/01/09 - As some of you know, I sustained some injuries just before the final run. I completed the run anyway- although I will not be running again for several months while I heal.
Thank you to everyone that helped support Plumas Lake for the Cure this summer. We were able to raise over $9,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) to invest in research for better treatments and cures. Along the way, we were able to help two recently diagnosed children with Leukemia. Thanks for your support!
"While most people believe these types of medical treatments are covered by insurance, families faced with these illnesses find they have much more than just medical bills piling up. Even with full health care coverage, there are still co-pays, gas costs to and from the hospital for treatment, lost work time for all the medical appointments, and the need for in-home care when the child is too sick or immune-compromised to be in a public daycare or school"
We concluded our final fundraiser for this year, and we want to thank everyone for all of their help. You can see the article from our final event here: http://www.plumaslakelife.com/articles/great-471-aplenty-help.html
I know that I have been truly inspired by everyone's support! Before becoming part of Team in Training for LLS, I really felt that I was just one person. Although I often volunteered, I felt that I had very limited potential to make any real impact. After this experience, I feel that there is now a world of opportunities in my life that I would have once considered "out of reach". I now know that if we work together as a team, we can dream bigger. I am dreaming bigger, and that is a great feeling.
09/10/09 - We are looking forward to our final prize drawing on September 20th. Thank you to everyone for buying tickets and supporting the cause! Good luck! We are so happy to be helping the Alspektor family through this event!
08/23/09 - Music in the Park with Chris Gardner Band was so much fun! We raised $700! Thank you, again, Plumas Lake! News Article: http://www.plumaslakelife.com/articles/music-451-sunday-park.html
08/15/09 - Raised $405 at the garage sale! Thanks so much!!
08/09/04 - The next events are a garage sale (contact me to donate any items) on Saturday August 15th. Then we have a Concert in the Park with the Chris Gardner band on Sunday August 23rd.
08/04/09 - We organized this year's National Night Out against Crime for Plumas Lake on 08/04/09. Although this was not a fundrasing event, we did gather $444 in donations that evening! Also, the Sheriff's department dedicated the day to Plumas Lake. Thank you to Plumas Lake for all of your support!

07/18/09 - We raised over $1100 toward an antidote on the July 18 event! Thank you!
07/12/09 - We have our next fundraiser on Saturday, July 18th - an "Ante for the Antidote" evening event! Thank you all for helping to support our team. Keep an eye out for Music in the Park in August...
06/30/09 - The Rib cook off and carnival in June was very successful!!! We had a great time putting this together in a short amount of time, but it was well worth it. We raised $1,582.00. We couldn't of done it without the support of our family, friends & neighbors of Plumas Lake.
Thank you to all those that helped us out. See the local article on the event:

06/10/09 - Thank you Mark, Emmy and Darlene for your generous contributions! I am off and runing. Wish us luck - we have a fundraiser on Saturday - a Rib Cook Off. We have bounce houses, dunk tank, kids games, cool raffle prizes (GPS, MP3, etc.). I will be doing the face painting for the kids!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's Half Marathon on Oct 18th as part of the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers.
As a St. Jude Partner In Hope, Glen and I have made monthly contributions toward the treatment of childhood cancers for several years now. We would like to round out our efforts by helping to prevent the need for harsh treatments at all.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Treatments for these disorders are often lengthy and painful, and sometimes result in lifelong complications. If you cannot donate today, please consider signing up as a bone marrow donor or make an umbilical cord blood donation to the national cord blood bank, especially if you have a diverse ethnic background! http://www.marrow.org/index.html
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
