Racing to Save Lives

ONE MILE AT A TIME!

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking out the time to visit my web page! I am working really hard to reach a personal goal in my life and that is to help others more. I am so blessed with a wonderful husband, good health, and six great kids and I want to be able to give back to others in need.

I am running a marathon for the Luekemia & Lymphoma Society as a TEAM IN TRAINING member. We raise funds in order to have the honor of running for, and sponsoring victims of blood cancers. As we all know, cancer does not discriminate against anyone or any age. I know there are all different kinds of cancers today and if you know me, I would be running for all of them if I could! I chose this cancer because my best friends father-in-law, Wayne Hackney, passed away last year from this disease. Together, Denise and I want to help find a cure, (psst, that's who is in the picture with me) this could be the same cure that will help fight other cancers. Its a win-win!

Denise and I have been training really hard and we have worked our booties off fundraising too! Our combined effort with all of your help is approx $2200.00. I am very proud of what we have accomplished these past five months. Unfortunately, we just found out that my partner will not be able to run this marathon because she has two stress fractures in both knees. (See how hard we've worked, ouch!) We did not meet our minimum fund raising goal, so I may not qualify to run this October's event. I will make the cut for January's run because I have faith the funds will be here. It's a little tough mentally for me to think I was so close and physically ready to go, but I won't lose sight of the fact that this is for a great cause and sometimes we just have to wait to make our endeavors come true!

So Remember---

Cancer affects all of our lives one way or another. The blessings we can give big and small make all the difference in the world to someone who has this disease.

October 3rd is my fundraising deadline. I need a miracle! In order to run this race in 3 weeks, I have to have met the fundraising goal of $2700.00. To everyone who has supported us financially, lifted us in prayer, pushed us to succeed and given us their time to make this possible, thank you. Most of all thanks to my family, who have been my biggest cheering squad, sign holders, flier distributors, and the best knee and foot massagers ever! I love you !
