It has been more than a year since my Sister in Law passed away. There is still such a hole in all the lives she touched. I am running so that one day a cure will be found. Help me fight Leukemia!
3-23-11: Pouring rain for 3 mile assessment. Silly me, went out and trained anyways. Perhaps it was the rain, but I went a little faster today and made pretty good time.
3-10-11: Over halfway to my goal and getting really excited. I keep thinking about how many lives will be touched through the love my friends and family have given. Thank you to everyone who has offered support through prayers, love, encouragement and more. You inspire me
2-19-11: Ran along Folsom Lake today. Down from Old Folsom, acrossed a few bridges and almost to the Highway 50 exit. Logged in at about 8.75 miles today. My knee was a little stiff, so went for the finish rather than the time. Still completed in about 2 hours, 20 min.
2-14-11: Been running a fundraising effort on my own the past few weeks. Very pleased to have raised about 25% of my money in this time.
2-12-11: We ran a mini Marathon today. Was our half way point in training and I completed a 13K, which is about 8.2 miles. I ran this in a little over 2 hours.
2-5-11: Today had my first official training with the Team in Training group. What I thought was a 4 mile course turned out to be 6.5 miles. Imagine my shock when I completed it in less time than I thought I would. Slowly I am getting ready for AVENUE OF GIANTS!!
11-30-10: http://knittyphotomom.blogspot.com/2010/11/never-enough-time.html - Several people have asked. Why? What are you hoping to gain? For myself, honestly- nothing. But for others.. I hope to gain everything!
Kristin Michelle Plummer, age 35, died peacefully on September 13, 2009 in Anaheim, CA after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Without a doubt, I am getting ready for one of the biggest challenge of my life. On May 1, 2011, I will be participating a half- marathon in Big Trees in Northern California! That’s over 13 miles. Luckily, I am not doing this on my own. I have joined the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. Through this program, I have great coaches, mentors and teammates whose support will help me cross the finish line.
More importantly even than my physical commitment to the program is my commitment to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in its effort to battle Leukemia and related cancers. These diseases strike some 107,000 Americans each year and acute leukemia is the number one cause of death of children under the age of 15. One of the greatest contributions of the Society is toward research. Significant progress has been made in the treatment of this disease, and researchers are now optimistic that they will find a cure
