Racing to Save Lives
Brian & I are running the Rock & Roll Seattle Marathon on July 27th, 2009!!!
We will be participating and training for the marathon as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training.
All Team In Training members will be raising funds to help stop leukemia, lumphoma, hodkin's disease, & myeloma from taking more lives.
The LLS is a charity/health agency dedicated to CURING leukemia and its related cancers & IMPROVING the quality of life for existing patients and their families.
Crossing the finish line will be a great personal accomplishment. Running the race & raising funds to help individuals who are battling blood cancers get one step closer to a cure will be ABSOLUTELY INDESCRIBABLE.
Please support us and LLS's mission by making a donation on this site or Brian's site. We sincerely appreciate anything you are able to contribute.
Please also feel free to forward this information to any of your family and friends that may be interested in supporting us, Team in Training and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, as we run to save lives!
Thank you!
Sara Holley

Trianing Updates
Sunday March 29,2009
Brian and I have been successful at attending almost all Saturday training runs starting at 8:00 AM. We have made 7 out of the 8. The one we missed was due to cold weather and being on the brink of catching a cold. I know that the cold weather here does not compare to Chicago or Colorado, but I must say we have gone on some pretty brisk runs and also have gotten use to running in the rain!
We have really been enjoying the training. We are already up to 12 miles on our long run! We have met some really great, enthusiastic people that love running and supporting a great cause.
Over the course of our training, we have also become closer to the cause. Both of us had a close family friend unfortunately loose their battle to cancer. Both had struggled and made a recovery and then had a quick relapse. We, of course will be adding both of them to our honoree bracelets. We are happy to add the names of anyone you know that has been afflicted by cancer.
Thank you to all of you that have already donated and support us, TNT, and the LLS. Both, fundraising and training for a marathon is a first for us. We appreciate your continued support.

This week, Brian and I met up on Tuesday night for our "Buddy run" at Lagoon Valley Park in Vacaville. It was a nice 5 miler. The weather has been absolutely gorgeous, sunny, but not too hot with a breeze, just perfect for running. I had a great training long run on Saturday, 14 Miles with hills!!! This breaks a personal record for me! The longest before was the Napa/Sonoma Half Marathon= 13.2 miles . I must say that I was sore yesterday! I rested up and tried out a new yoga class this morning. I LOVED IT! I am happy to have found a new studio that I like, since the class schedule at my Napa yoga studio was not working out too well. The combination of running and yoga is SO perfect!
I am busy planning a dinner dance fundraising party later this month. (Locals- SAVE THE DATE, Sat. April 25) . One the DJ's I highly recommend to brides/social events is donating DJ services. THANK YOU MARK WELCH ENTERTAINMENT!!! I am really excited! It is going to be a great time and I hope to raise lots of money for LLS.
Evite....coming out soon...
We are sending in our re-commitment forms and appreciate your donations to a truly great cause!
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE DONATIONS AND SUPPORT!

Last Saturday, we ran another 14 miles...of hills! We trained in the Hiddenbrooke Community (where the Golf Club I work at is located). When I got the email that are training was here, I was really nervous since I knew the hilly area! It went pretty well. Brian had a sore knee after, but he took it easier this week. He said it was a bit painful after todays long run, but much better than last week. We did another 14 miles...this time right in our nieghborhood. It was nice to have all of our Team In Training friends on our local turf!!! Other than that, I am BUSY BUSY BUSY party planning! I am hosting my friend, Lisa Toftely's Bridal Shower tomorrow and my Team in Training Dinner Party next Saturday. I hope all local friends can make the party. It is going to be a blast; dinner, dancing, lots of wine, and silent auction prizes!
Here is the evite: Please come and bring friends!

Saturday was a great day. I ran for just under 3 hours...about 16-17 miles! Another record! We had a busy day getting ready for the party. The party went well. We were expecting a better turnout, but the wonderful people that did attend donated generously and we raised about $500!!! Thank you to everyone that attended and companies that donated product to the auction~ Mark Welch Entertainment, Glass Slippers Gourmet, Sweet Little Ones Cookies, Elaine Bell Catering, Hiddenbrooke Golf Club, Ledgewood Winery, GV Cellars, Bev Mo, Safeway, and Costco! It was a great party! I wish my family and friends in other states could have attended. It was a great time!
We have also been selling cake in the nieghborhood park to raise money for LLS. It has actually been a great way to meet nieghbors. This nieghborhood is so wonderful!
We are nearing close to our fundraising deadline...so, if you are considering a donating to a great cause, please try to donate before June 1, 2009. Thank you!
We are so thankful for all the donations we have gotten and are so excited to support a great cause. THANK YOU!

Last weekend was a great training run. It was shocking at first to get the email that said 1) we were starting an hour earlier and 2) training was in Mill Valley, an hour away! This had us out of bed before 6 am! Mill Valley was awesome. It was a group training with all of San Fransico Team in Training Members (not just our county). The run was along the bay, which was a great scenic route. Good thing, because we ran 20 miles!!! We stayed and hung out for the Bay to Breakers Send-off for those running the BTB race this Sunday. Tomorrow, we are back in Benicia State Park.
Other than that, we have been busy fundraising. I did a Mary's Pizza Shack Dine and Donate and Brian is doing one with Chevy's next Monday. This Sunday, we will be at the Green Valley Safeway giving out Starbuck's coffee in the morning and root beer floats in the afternoon, in exchange for donations. We are getting close to our deadline, June 1st!!! We are both at about 70%. If you are still planning to contribute, please try to make your donation before our deadline!
Thanks again for you donations and support! We really appreciate it!
