Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All
of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia,
lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am
completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling
blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we
need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

JANUARY 31, 2009
Today I went to the TNT kickoff meeting. Besides getting all my schedule info and a t-shirt to run in, I got something way bigger. But it wasn't something that came in a goodie bag or something I picked up at one of the information booths. I recieved a reminder for why I was doing this and the motivation I need to keep going strong. I sat in a conference room with a couple of hundred people while five survivors told their stories. Three of them were adults and the other two were children. Regardless of age, this is a devistating disease; but to see these two children tell their stories of their struggles to stay alive was heart wrenching. That wasn't all... each and every survivor couldn't express in words how thankful they were for the hard work all the people at Team in Training put into fundraising so that the patients and the families could get through this a little easier and one day recieve a cure. One man even said that he didn't know why he (as a survivor) was considered a hero because in his mind the volunteers, employees, etc. of TNT were the real heros. This is the exact motivation we, as trainees, volunteers and donators need.
