Training for a Race, Racing for a Cure!

So this was suppose to be my year "off" of fundrasing...I was suppose to focus on my coaching duties to Ironteam 2010 and take a break from the fundraising side of my commitment to the team...

But after a few sad turn of events earlier this year it just doesn't feel right to not "do my part".

When I became involved with TNT 3+ years ago I didn't have a real connection to the cause. But over the past 6 seasons I have been blessed with meeting and getting to know so many success stories:

• Laurn Bishopp, the little girl at Wildflower whose beads of courage brought me to tears and who stood, with her sisters and parents, at the final turn into the finish at Ironman Louisville to cheered me and my team in.
• Team Frankie who is one of the best support crews a team could ask for.
• Laura Warren who is at all Ironteam's big workouts with a smile and a positive attitude.
• The Ades family who always made sure I never rode alone and who made me realize I was a part of something big.

Saddly this year I've seen a much different side of Leukemia and Lymphoma. A side that doesn't celebrate the victories...friends have passed, others are no longer in remission and it seems like every week I hear about someone else whose life will forever be changed because cancer has reared it's ugly head.

It is because of this that I have decided to join the marathon team and do my part to make the list of success stories longer and to eliminate the list of losses.

Life is a gift and being a part of Team in Training is an honor and a privilage. I race for all those who don’t have the opportunity to race. I race for those who have lost their ability to race & I race to find a cure.
