Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
Many of you know that my daughter Stacie is a surviving leukemia patient. She underwent a bone marrow transplant at Stanford University in 1996. Many thanks go to the doctors and a young German lady - Heike, who was Stacie's bone marrow donor. This goes without saying I am so grateful for God's will and the tremendous support from family and friends. THANK YOU!!!!
Why am I telling you this? Well, at 73 years old, I have decided to participate in walking a fund-raiser half marathon sponsored by the Leukemia Lymphoma Society (LLS) called "Team in Training" Why Leukemia Lymphoma Society-Team in Training. That is simple, over the years the LLS has provided more than $500 million for research targeting blood cancers and other related cancers. This research has not only continued to benefit Stacie but millions of others who have leukemia and other related cancers.
Team in Training provides its participants with coaching and training expertise in exchange for raising money towards finding a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and other related cancers. As part of Team in Training, I will be participating in Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco on Oct 18. Last year this marathon raised $18.5 million dollars- 90% of the money raised went directly to research.
I will not be alone on this feat of 13.1 miles. Stacie (wearing purple shirt) daughter Haidee (wearing white shirt), friends, Vince and Sheila Webster will be walking with me and thousands of others on Oct. 18th. All bound together for one reason - to raise money to help find a cure for Leukemia and all cancers. Walking this half marathon is no feat compared to the challenges that cancer patients face every day.
If you are inspired to help with this wonderful cause of finding a cure, Please make a donation to help me reach my fund-raising goal of $7,500.
Remember all donations to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are 100% tax deductible! No amount is too small. Every dime makes a difference. If you are unable to support at this time please keep all of those battling cancer and those lost to cancer in your thoughts as I will.
If you have anyone you would like me to walk in honor of please let me know. I will wear their name on my wrist bracelet or shirt during the marathon and throughout the next couple months of training. I will be taking one step at a time to make a difference in the battle of leukemia and all cancers.
Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions please call me at 707 425 0116 or email me at gilbaum@inreach.com
Sincerely,
Gil Baumgartner
P.S. Stacie just celebrated 13 years leukemia free. We are so blessed.
