Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page!
I'm back again for another Team In Training Season! Fueled by nothing but deep inspiration to help raise money and awareness to find a cure...
I am training again to participate in the Nike Women's Marathon this October. Last year, I worked with Team In Training and completed my very first Half Marathon at this same event...It was by far the biggest highlight of my year. I cannot begin to describe the rush and emotion you go through being a part of such a great program and awesome Event. In fact, the day after I had completed Nike 2008, (burning feet, sore muscles, and all...) I told my Coach, "I am coming back for more next year!" So here I am - committed and ready to go the distance all over again...
Also this season, I'm scheduling a number of events throughout the fall, in hopes of motivating folks to support The LLS...Currently on my schedule:
Sept 27 - Lake Tahoe Half Marathon
October 4 - Cowtown Sacramento 5k
October 8 - Global Yoga Marathon (8 Bikram Yoga Classes in 1 Day)
October 18 - Nike Women's Marathon (Official TNT Event)
November 1 - San Francisco US Half Marathon
November 24 - Run to Feed the Hungry 10k - Sacramento
All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
UPDATE - 9/30/2009 -
Just wanted to drop a little something, and update everyone on what I've been up to and the Events I've got coming around the bend...
Last Sunday, I completed the Lake Tahoe Half Marathon...It was tough one, but the views were beyond spectacular! Last year, I did the 10K for this Event, but we started at the top of Emerald Bay and worked our way down to Pope Beach...This year for the Half, I actually had run up Highway 89 to see that Emerald Bay view that I started from last year. =) Between those hills and the 6700 ft altitude, I was a little nutty. But I did in fact, complete it, and if I can finish a tough run like that, I think I'll be good to go for when Nike comes around in a few weeks...
This coming Sunday, I'll be taking it a little easier...I'm going to do the Cowtown 5k in Sacramento. I know, I know, 5k is a little bit of a warm up, but The Cowtown doesn't offer a 10k, and I don't think I have another Half in me a second Sunday in a row...
One week from tomorrow, on October 8, I'll be doing the Global Yoga Marathon...This will probably be my biggest mental challenge this year. I've been taking a few doubles and trying to get in at least 6 classes a week, but I don't know if I can truly prepare for doing 8 Bikram classes in a day...If any of you want to join me for any class that day, drop me a message...You can come as my guest. =)
And of course, I can't close out the update without asking you to kindly make a donation to my Fundraising Page...If you think I'm absolutely nuts for all the crap I'm doing this Fall, please support my mental state and donate. If everyone in the group just donated $15, I'll hit my goal of $2500. Please click and help a great cause!
Again, Thanks for all the love and support!
...I know the fundraising totals don't currently show it, but I just wanted to post that so far, we've raised OVER $2700 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this season!!!
All donations made offline have to get processed through Paycor, so this page will be updated and accurate soon...
THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT!! The big Nike run is in less than 24 hours, and I will return here to post recaps on that and my Yoga Marathon.
