Racing to Save Lives
As you can tell from the pictures I'm a fun loving, karaoke singing goofball. I give my all to everything I do, and now I've decided it's time to do some good while I'm out there achieving my goals. I wanted to get in shape this summer and I thought, hey why not help some people out while I'm at it? Nothing like multitasking!
Thanks so much to those that have donated so far, you are all so generous and your donations are going to a great cause.
If it's your first time visiting my site, let me tell you a little bit about what I'm doing:
I'm training to participate in the Nike Women's half marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. As you can see by the reflection in my glasses, we've got a long road ahead, but I'm already training.
Thanks for your support!
Update on my training:
Just Signed My Recommitment Form:
Thank you thank you thank you! A million times thank you to everyone who donated, helped, listened to me complain about the stress of fundraising. I reached my goal and then some! Yayyyy! Can't wait to run in October. I've been training harder than ever, and I think I might actually finish with a decent time. Hope some of you can come cheer me on!
Poker Night Fundraiser:
A big thanks to all of you who came to my big fundraising event. And thanks to our gracious hosts, Mike and Nicole. We managed to raise $180 for cancer in just one night of poker, good food, and great wine. You guys rock!!
Even after the big party I managed to drag myself out of bed and run 5 miles the next morning. It wasn't easy but it was worth it. Next weekend I'll be back up to 8 miles plus. GOOOO TEAM!
Update July:
Last Saturday we completed an 8 mile run as a team, in under an hour and a half. It felt great! I am feeling strong and ready to go the distance. It's getting close to recommitment and I really need a boost from you guys. I'm still $1339 shy from my goal, and every little bit helps. I'm determined to run this half marathon and finish with a good time.
Update June:
I ran a 6 mile run last Saturday in 56 minutes, woohoo! Before Saturday, the longest I had run was 3 miles. It was a great way to start my weekend, and I feel that much closer to being ready for the marathon.
