"Ride to Save Lives"
Welcome to Bing and Emilio's Team In Training home page.
Dear Family and Friends,
I have always wanted to do something to help fight cancer. Cancer has had a huge impact on me and my family. My sister died of aplastic anemia (Leukemia) in 1987. She was in her mid-40s when she passed away. I also lost my brother in March of 2007 at the age of 55 from lung cancer. In the summer of 2008, my wife was diagnosed with a Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer (stage 4). I thought it was the end of our world. When the doctor sat us down and told us the diagnosis, all I could do is look at my wife and ask, "why?" Why her? She didn't smoke, she didn't drink and she ate right and exercised on a regular basis. I couldn't think of any reason as to why she was diagnosed with this disease. For a year, I witnessed her fight a difficult battle and all I could do was pray. I thank God for the strength and determination He gave her and thank Him for blessing us with good family and friends. Because of their never ending support, we remained strong and fought the battle. Today, by God's grace, she is in remission.
Last year I discovered the Team In Training (LLS) organization. TNT fundraises to find cures for Leukemia and Lymphoma blood diseases. I joined TNT last year to train to ride my bike 100 miles in Lake Tahoe in honor of my siblings and my wife. My hope is that one day this disease will be no more.
Well, I am training again to ride 100-miles on June 5, 2011 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. And guess who's joining me. My wife will be training with me for the next four months to ride 72 miles around Lake Tahoe. (Last year she rode for 35 miles and joined me in the finish line as you can see in the photo.) We are determined to see the finish line again this year to help stop Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin Lymphoma and Myeloma from taking more lives. We are completing this event in honor of all the individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
I ask that you consider supporting us in our campaign against Leukemia and Lymphoma. Together we can fight to find a cure for blood cancer diseases.
I believe that organizations like Team In Training and LLS are a big part of why my wife and other blood disease survivors are able to fight and win. Please make a donation to support our participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
Thank you for your support!
