JOIN ME IN THE FIGHT !!
Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, including my sister, Jennifer Saltmarsh Manullang; my friend, Fred Rhines; and in memory of my dad, Curt Saltmarsh, who lost his battle to leukemia in 2005. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission.
I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
UPDATE:
Jennifer had another scan last week. Although the official results are not back, it does appear that her tumor has shrunk just a little. That's not good enough. At least it went down and not up, but it's gotta shrink more. WAY more. Invisible more. NO MORE.
I ask everyone reading to take a collective breath in, envisioning her spine with NO CANCER. Now let that breath out, blowing it until there's no more air. OK. Now do the bunny hop. (Sorry, got carried away.)
Until next update . . . thank you ALL for your generosity! I'm in big protective sister mode. You each make me more determined in my training and give my sister the warmth of knowing so many people care about her!!
I just returned from a trip to Oregon where I got to see my little sister. You can see the effects of chemo in some of the pictures above. She looks adorable in her wig and super cute newsboy hat, but scarves are much more comfy. The chemo is making her extr-y tired. I suggest she do a carwash fundraiser in Portland to help with meeting my goal. She said "OK, but yesterday I was too tired to get dressed." She hasn't lost her sense of humor, that's for sure!!!
I really enjoyed training in Oregon! I will definitely like running my race in Seattle. The air is nice compared to Colorado high altitude. Some things are nice to have thin. Thighs, wheat, sliced ham, but NOT air!!
My awesome-gold-star mentor, Sarah "Hunke Monkey" is organizing a wine tasting next Saturday evening, April 10, in Colorado Springs. For anyone that can attend, please do!! We're suggesting a $25 per person donation, which will go a long way to help us fundraisers meet our goals!! If you didn't get your invitation, please contact me and I'll get you all the details~! Thanks to all you supporters for being on my team!
