Racing to Save Lives
Welcome to my Team In Training home page! Happy New Year!
I'm training to participate in the Country Music Full Marathon in Nashville, TN (24 April, 2010) as a member of The Rocky Mountain Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm training for and completeing these events in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
My total goal minimum is $3800, but want to reach $1330 by February 23, 2010. With your help, this will be possible! *No donation is too small! Every bit helps!*
I have also "revived" the blog that I used for my first season, so please check it out to read about my progress! click HERE :) For a limited time, I have re-opened my Etsy shop. 100% of the proceeds (minus shipping cost) will go towards the fundraising. click HERE :)
Since my husband and I are new to the Colorado Springs area, I had no doubt in my mind that I would sign up with TNT again. I had such an amazing experience with my National Capital Area Chapter (Maryland team) teammates in late 2008-early 2009. When I crossed the finish line at The SunTrust National Half Marathon in Washington, DC (21 March 2009), I promised myself that I would do it all over again.
For those of you who supported me with my fundraising efforts the first time, I urge you to lend your support again this time around. If you live in Colorado, I'm hoping to have some neat fundraising events in the Colorado Springs area and possibly Denver. I would be so grateful if you could lend your talents to help support this cause. Whether it may be your time, a donation for a silent auction, or things of that nature.
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. No donation is too small!
The Power of your Donation:
$500 - Provides a patient with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma financial aid to support medical treatment and travel to medical appointments for one year.
$200 - Provides funding for a Family Support Group Program for one year where comfort can be found and experiences can be shared among patients and family members mediated by a trained facilitator.
$150 - Provides for 5 patients to make a First Connection with a trained peer volunteer patient/survivor.
$100 - Helps supply laboratory researchers with supplies and materials critical to carrying out their search for cures
$75 - Covers the cost of one tissue typing test that is used to become a bone marrow donor.
$50 - Covers the cost of one CT scan.
$40 - Covers the cost of sending a comprehensive support and informational packet to the family of a child with cancer.
$25 - Covers the cost of one prescription co-payment.
I realize people may be hesitant to donate in this economy and other factors, but remember that no amount is too small! Every little bit helps!
Your donation is 100% tax deductible and about 75% of the funds raised go directly to research, education and patient support!
For International donations if you have problems with entering a valid phone number, just remove the hyphens while entering the numbers and it should work!
Even though I volunteer and donate to other causes, this one has become dear to me. I know of a few people who were personally affected by a blood cancer and that just makes more important for me to get involved. I am asking you to please help me raise funds for this great cause. I'm going to get through these events with my teammates (past and present) and friends & family who are affected in some way or another with Leukemia & Lymphoma in my mind. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thank you for your support!
