Racing to Save Lives

Welcome to my Team In Training home page.
I'm training to participate in the Denver Half Marathon n October 17, 2010 as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
As most of you know I've been running for about 10 years and have completed 7 marathons and many half marathons. I decided this year that I wanted to change the focus of my running so that it wasn't just about personal goals, but instead makes a difference in the lives of others. I also needed a little extra motivation, since my four-legged motivation, Sydney, is out of commission while she recovers from surgery for a torn Biceps Tendon. I have several friends who have trained and run with TNT and have had AMAZING experiences. So for me the choice to run with TNT was easy. I can do something I love, running, with a purpose: to raise funds for and awareness about LLS.
In addition, my dear friend Kay Kay's dad was recently diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and is currently underging treatment AND my mom's cousin was also recently diagnosed with Lymphoma and is undergoing treatment. So for me there is a very real, personal connection and purpose in raising money so that LLS can continue to do the good research that they do. The photo below, my mom's cousin Pat (I don't know the family tree well enough to know what relation that is to me - my cousin as well) - my Honoree for this race and this effort!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. No donation is too small!
I hope you will visit this page often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
