We have decided to ride 100 miles on bicycles around Lake Tahoe on June 3, 2012 during America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride. Yes, all in one day! But before that day comes we have committed to:

  • four months of training
  • early saturday morning rides
  • washing cycling clothes every week
  • sore muscles (quads, hamstrings, shoulders, calves, backs etc)
  • sitting in the "saddle" for hours
  • swallowing power gel and gatorade while pedaling without falling over
  • going home early on friday nights to get ready for the early saturday mornings
  • helmet hair
  • bike rides uphill in the wind

Why would we decide to do something a little crazy like this?

  • Because in the time that it takes you to read this webpage (approximately 4 minutes) someone else will be diagnosed with a blood cancer.
  • Because during the four months of training we will also be raising funds to help find cures and more effective treatments for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma.
  • Because The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) will spend the money we raise on helping empower blood cancer patients with knowledge about their diagnosis, support groups, and financial aid.
  • Because none of the sore muscles or early morning trainings can compare to the life-changing magnitude of hearing those words "you have cancer" or the treatments that follow.

Please join us on this journey over the next four months. To help us reach our goal we would greatly appreciate :

  • your patience if we don't get right back to you (we may be changing a flat tire)
  • your network (share our journey with people you know and forward our webpage)
  • your support (every dollar raised is one step closer to a cure)
  • your employer (see if they have a matching gifts program to double your donation)
  • your encouragement (riding a bike for that long is hard!)

Be on our team as we train and fundraise. As a team, we can accomplish AWESOME things towards cures for blood cancers.
