Welcome to James DeGregori Homepage. This team brings together two brothers, Roger and James DeGregori, who are both dedicated to finding a cure for blood cancers.
James is a leukemia researcher at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Colorado ( http://medschool.ucdenver.edu/DeGregoriLab), and his lab has been heavily supported by the LLS for over 10 years. His lab focuses on acute myeloid and chronic myeloid leukemias (from bench to bedside), with the goal of developing novel combination therapies to better treat these devastating diseases. Roger owns fish stores (Fish Gallery) in Houston, Dallas and Denver, and has held fundraisers in the past for LLS. Stay tuned for one this Spring! The bottom line: LLS is a fantastic organization, with dedicated staff and volunteers, and with an incredibly worthy mission.
Most importantly, this ride is dedicated to our friends and family who have been lost to leukemia and lymphoma: to our aunt Kay Sutherland, to our cousin Monika Weber, to James host-father in Uruguay, Atilio Ramos, to James' niece in Argentina Abril Ramos, and to Roger's wife's dear friend, Diana Domangue. This ride is for everyone affected by these diseases.
My niece Abril was lost to acute lymphoblastic leukemia last year. Her whole family (in Argentina, Uruguay, Colorado and elsewhere) misses her greatly. We need less damaging therapies for childhood leukemias.
We also greatly miss Atilio (Uruguay), who died of CML in the nineties, before the availability of targeted therapies. We need better and more targeted therapies for all leukemias and lymphomas.
James and Roger will be riding in the Lake Tahoe Century bike ride in support of the LLS. The cause is very worthy, so please give generously!
Your donations will help find cures and more effective treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and to help patients deal with their disease. As a team, we can accomplish great things towards cures for blood cancers. Together, there’s no telling what we can do.
